We just completed our Charter TED* Practitioner Program this week. In many ways, having 14 diverse professionals from the U.S. and Canada step forward to deepen their understanding of TED* (*The Empowerment Dynamic), just felt like the natural, next baby steps for the evolution of this work.
On the other hand, having the shared experience of co-creating a community of practice, I came away feeling (knowing) that this is a “quantum leap launched,” the end result of which will emerge over time.
An integral theme of the week was that of understanding “the complexity behind the simplicity” of TED*. At one level, the ways of thinking, being and taking action – as a Creator, Challenger and Coach – seems simple. Cognitively it is.
However, as is referenced repeatedly in The Power of TED*, it is simple, but not easy. The shift from a Victim Orientation and the Dreaded Drama Triangle roles of Victim, Persecutor, and Rescuer into a Creator Orientation and The Empowerment Dynamic takes conscious focus and practice – and takes place over time (like, maybe, the rest of one’s life).
In your walk with TED*, I encourage you to remember that the way of progress is two steps forward for every step back and that the path you are on is simple, but not easy – there is a great deal of complexity that supports the simplicity.
